The five questions national surveys use to measure financial literacy. Answer them and see where you land against the country.
These five questions are the instrument. Economists Annamaria Lusardi and Olivia Mitchell introduced the first three in 2004, and they now appear in national surveys in the United States and fifteen other countries. Two more were added for the FINRA Foundation's National Financial Capability Study. They are short on purpose: they are meant to sort, not to teach.
In the 2024 National Financial Capability Study, 27% of US adults answered at least five of seven financial knowledge questions correctly.
